On Tuesday, six IHC judges — out of a total strength of eight — wrote a startling letter to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) members, regarding attempts to pressure judges through abduction and torture of their relatives as well as secret surveillance inside their homes.

“We remain committed to ensuring that Afghanistan can never again be a launching pad for terrorism, and we continue to push the Taliban (Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) to fulfill all of their counter terrorism commitments to the international community,” the department’s spokesperson Matthew Miller said at a news briefing in Washington.
He reiterated that the United States had clearly communicated to the IEA that it’s their responsibility to ensure that “they give no safe haven to terrorists, whether it be Al Qaeda or ISIS-K or any other terrorist organization”.

In a meeting with the Afghan minister of mines and petroleum, Shahabuddin Delawar, he briefed about the project. The ambassador of Turkmenistan in Kabul was also present in the discussion on the project.
Afghan Minister Shahab Delawar said that the preliminary work of TAPI is progressing quickly and that the pipeline will be put into operation in the near future.
TAPI is a natural gas pipeline being developed by the Galkynysh – TAPI Pipeline Company Limited with participation of the Asian Development Bank.
The pipeline will transport natural gas from the Galkynysh Gas Field in Turkmenistan through Afghanistan into Pakistan and then to India.

The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline, known as the Peace Pipeline, opens a new tab, is a long-term project between Tehran and Islamabad, and has faced delays and funding challenges for several years. The pipeline would transport natural gas from Iran to neighbouring Pakistan.
Iran and Pakistan had signed a five-year trade plan in August 2023 and set a bilateral trade target at $5 billion.

“More than 20 individuals are still on the blacklist, with three or four added, making a total of 24. This is not a positive step. The list should have been eliminated before,” Zabihullah Mujahid said.
